The Egyptian National Railways will launch the first ‘Youth Train’ journey on the evening of Friday, November 22nd, 2024, as part of the ‘Know Your Country’ program. This initiative, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, aims to promote domestic tourism and offer young Egyptians an opportunity to connect with their heritage.
The program provides a subsidised travel package covering accommodation, meals, and transportation for just EGP 2,500, enabling participants to explore the historical and archaeological sites of Luxor and Aswan. The program will run until February 27th, 2025, with two weekly trips in each direction.
The train departs Cairo every Friday evening and returns from Aswan every Thursday. The train consists of nine air-conditioned second-class carriages, including a buffet car, with a total capacity of 516 passengers per trip. Over the course of the program, 28 round trips will be made, accommodating up to 14,448 passengers.
The train will follow a set schedule, departing Cairo at 5:00 PM on Fridays and returning from Aswan at 8:00 PM on Thursdays. It will make stops at key stations along the way, including Giza, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor and Aswan.
