New Egypt Metro Line to Use International Tender in 2025
Cairo Metro Line 6 is planned to span 34 kilometres, with 26 stations connecting northern Cairo to southern districts.
Cairo Metro Line 6, estimated to cost around USD 3 billion, will utilise an international tender, with companies presenting finance packages from European institutions by mid-2025.
The financing packages would cover electrical and mechanical systems, signalling, communications, central control, ticket gates, future train procurement, as well as the foreign currency aspect of the project.
The National Authority for Tunnels will cover local costs in Egyptian pounds. Construction is set to begin in 2027 with gradual development over eight years. The metro line is planned to span 34 kilometres, with 26 stations connecting northern Cairo to southern districts, from the Al-Ameria area to the El-Tagmoa area.
