Champion Nour El Tayeb Runs for VP of International Squash Federation
Former world No.3 Nour El Tayeb officially retired in July after a two-decade squash career that began in 2004.
Nour El Tayeb - recently retired squash champion and former world No. 3 player - has announced her candidacy for the role of Vice President of the International Squash Federation (ISF) in the upcoming elections, set for mid-December.This news comes as current ISF Vice President and former world champion, Karim Darwish, confirms he will not be running for re-election this term.
El Tayeb, 31, officially retired in July after a two-decade career that began in 2004. She reached her career-high world ranking of No. 3 in 2018 and won 16 Professional Squash Association (PSA) titles.
In 2021, El Tayeb and her husband, world champion Ali Farag, had a child. Fourteen months after stepping away from the sport to focus on motherhood, El Tayeb made a comeback at the Black Ball Open in December 2021, advancing to the quarterfinals. Though she had dropped to world No. 81 by February 2022, she regained a top-five world ranking within seven months, capturing the CIB Zed Open title.
