Diamand Abboud Wins Best Actress at Cairo Int’l Film Festival

Diamand Abboud has won Best Actress at the festival's Horizons of Arab Cinema Competition for her role in Arzé.

Lebanese actress Diamand Abboud has won Best Actress at the Cairo International Film Festival's Horizons of Arab Cinema Competition for her role in Arzé. The film also took home the Best Screenplay Award in the same competition.

Arzé tells the story of a single mother, Arzé, who embarks on a journey across sectarian Beirut with her teenage son to recover their stolen scooter—their only means of livelihood. Directed by Mira Shaib and co-written by Louay Khraish and Faissal Sam Shaib, the film was produced by Egyptian filmmaker Ali El Araby.
