The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is hosting the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit today, November 11th, in Riyadh, bringing together Arab and Islamic leaders to address the ongoing crises in Gaza and Lebanon amidst Israel’s escalating aggression in the region.

The summit will include key figures such as the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, and the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha. They will discuss current de-escalation efforts and the latest developments in Gaza and Lebanon.

“There is no alternative to the two-state solution, and the Palestinian State will only exist with both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip together within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” Aboul-Gheit tells SceneNowSaudi. The summit builds upon last year’s Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh, where foreign ministers from several Arab and Islamic countries were tasked with launching international efforts to stop the war in Gaza.

“This [summit] has been achieved through diplomatic efforts in international forums and pushing for resolutions in the UN Security Council and General Assembly to condemn the ongoing Israeli aggression and call for its cessation," Hissein Brahim Taha notes.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan chaired the preparatory ministerial meeting for the summit on Sunday November 10th, with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty in attendance. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty  highlighted Cairo's efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza strip.
