New Exhibit at Grand Egyptian Museum Explores Cairo’s Urban Potential
‘Urban Spaces of Cairo’, held with UN Habitat, examines the capital’s urban evolution and sustainability patterns.
In collaboration with UN Habitat, the Grand Egyptian Museum will host the ‘Urban Spaces of Cairo: Past, Present and Future’, an exhibition that puts a spotlight on the urban history and potential of the Egyptian capital in anticipation of the 12th edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), which will take place in Cairo for the first time.
Starting this Friday, November 1st, at 4:30 PM, the exhibition examines three fundamental components of urban sustainability - Trade, Transport and Community - that helps define the city of Cairo. Curated by Egyptian designers Nesreen Moustafa and Ramzi Makram-Ebeid, this exhibition will explore the evolution of urban spaces in Cairo, revealing historical patterns of sustainability within Old Cairo's built environment, uncovering historical innovations within the city’s rich and layered urban fabric.
