Alya Drops Afropop Track ‘Glitter & Gold’ ft. Lifesize Teddy
The British-Emirati singer speaks of her struggle to balance her romantic desires with her father’s cautionary tales about the pitfalls of love.
Rising British-Emirati singer and dancer Alya Al Ali, aka Alya returns with an afro-infused pop track ‘Glitter & Gold’, featuring Nigerian hip-hop artist Lifesize Teddy.
Through evocative and thought-provoking lyricism, Alya speaks of her inner turmoil as she tries to resist the temptation of her romantic desires and follow her father’s cautionary tales about the pitfalls of love.
‘Glitter & Gold’ is coloured with the rhythmic allure of afrobeats, reggaeton and amapiano, with just enough pop sensibility to have you absentmindedly twisting your hips. As the track builds up, Lifesize Teddy’s one-liners mesh beautifully in the background, injecting a much-needed spice and swag to the song, as Alya resolves to stop overthinking and give into her heart’s desires while being mindful of making smart choices that reflect her worth.
The track is co-written by Morgan Connie Smith and Moh Denebi, and mastered by Grammy-winning sound engineer Dave Kutch, who has previously worked with world-famous artists like Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish and Justin Timberlake.
