Variable Salik Fees & Parking Tariffs to Be Applied in Dubai in 2025
The new system includes peak and off-peak rates, event-specific parking, and free parking on Sundays.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new plans to introduce Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) and parking tariff systems starting in 2025. As part of a strategy to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the city, these changes will offer differentiated toll and parking fees based on the time of day, as well as event-specific pricing around key venues.
The Variable Salik system, set to launch at the end of January 2025, will offer toll-free travel between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM. During weekday peak hours, between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the toll will be set at AED 6. Off-peak times from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, will see a reduced toll rate of AED 4. On Sundays, excluding public holidays or special events, the toll will be AED 4 for the entire day, with free passage between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
Alongside the new toll system, RTA will also introduce Variable Parking Tariffs by March 2025. Premium parking spaces will be charged AED 6 per hour during peak hours (8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM), while standard spaces will cost AED 4. Off-peak parking rates (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM) will remain unchanged. Nighttime parking, from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, will be free, as will parking throughout Sundays.
Additionally, a new Congestion Pricing Policy will apply around event zones, with a fee of AED 25 per hour for parking in areas near major events, such as the Dubai World Trade Centre. This policy will come into effect in February 2025.
