New Railway Will Connect Abu Simbel to Sudan's Wadi Halfa
Egypt is currently connected to Sudan through three land transport routes, as well as three land ports on the border with Sudan.
Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir announced that the Egyptian government will establish a railway line linking the Abu Simbel high-speed electric train station to Wadi Halfa in Sudan.
Egypt is currently connected to Sudan through three land transport routes: the Toshka-Arqin axis, which spans over 100 kilometres west of the Nile; the Qastal-Wadi Halfa axis, covering 35 kilometres east of the Nile; and the Red Sea coastal route from Halayeb Port to Port Sudan, stretching 280 kilometres.
Additionally, the Egyptian government operates three land ports on the border with Sudan - Qastal, Arqin and Ras Hadarba - with plans to establish logistics zones in Qastal and Arqin to support trade exchanges between Egypt and Sudan.
