The Giza Governorate has launched a new initiative to repurpose demolition waste into materials used for street and sidewalk development, such as curbs and interlocking tiles. As part of this effort, large crushers, essential for the process, have been delivered to the port of Safaga.
This initiative comes as part of the state's overarching infrastructure development strategy, which aims to manage construction and demolition waste according to international best practices. The project utilizes both fixed and mobile crushers to process the vast amounts of accumulated waste and plans to establish recycling factories to support future construction endeavors.
The recycling of demolition waste has been supported by environmental studies and practical experiments, confirming its suitability for new applications. The governorate has announced that designated areas for dumping rubble will be made available to the public to reduce illegal waste disposal, which has previously led to increased clean-up costs and legal repercussions.
