Littlest Lamb Orphanage Brings Dickens Adaptation to the AUC Stage
Discover the heartwarming tale of resilience and creativity as The Littlest Lamb Orphanage takes the stage.
At AUC Tahrir, the stage lights will call The Littlest Lamb orphanage, a remarkable group of young actors, to tell a timeless tale. Two years after their last performance, The Littlest Lamb returns with an ambitious undertaking on January 12th – an Arabic adaptation of Charles Dickens' ‘A Christmas Carol’. For these young talents, stepping onto the stage isn't just about performance; it's about finding their voices.
“Only 15% to 20% of the children chose to act directly, with more participating in different production aspects,” Mira Riad, founder of The Littlest Lamb, tells CairoScene. “For those who do, the journey is transformative. They conquer fears, express unspoken emotions, and confront the shadows of trauma that can linger in the hearts of orphans.” Participation isn't compulsory, allowing children to engage with the production at their own comfort level, while also extending support to help those feeling more apprehensive to overcome their anxieties.
This ambitious production, sponsored by AUC, carries a noble purpose – education and well-being for the children of The Littlest Lamb. Funds raised will fuel their holistic development, from tutoring and full-time teachers to sports programs like football, squash and dance.
