With every great airline comes an even better, more memorable cabin crew uniform.

Saudi Arabia’s newest airline, Riyadh Air, has enlisted Mohammed Ashi, Saudi designer and founder of the Paris-based label Ashi Studio, to ensure their inaugural uniform leaves a lasting impression. The cabin crew uniform is a notable part of any airline’s branding and one of the first branded elements travellers see when boarding a flight.

Riyadh Air’s maiden voyage isn’t scheduled until 2025, but Ashi is set to unveil some of his design concepts and explain his ideas at Haute Couture Week in Paris this year, from June 22nd to 27th. He plans to reveal the rest of his uniform designs later this year.

The official opening of Riyadh Air has been hotly anticipated; the new airline will play an important role in the future of the Kingdom by making Riyadh one of the world’s key destinations. The unveiling of the uniforms, however, might now be equally eagerly anticipated.

Ashi joined the Fédération de la Haute Couture in Paris as a guest member in 2023, becoming the first ever couturier from the Gulf to do so. He also became the first designer from the Gulf to be included in the BoF 500 list, an index by the Business of Fashion highlighting the most influential people shaping the industry in 2023.

The Saudi fashion maverick has dressed some of the world’s most influential figures, including Queen Rania of Jordan, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Penélope Cruz, Jennifer Hudson, Sonam Kapoor, and Kylie Minogue.
