World Surf League Longboard Season Begins in Abu Dhabi on September 27
Showcasing top longboard surfers, the inaugural WSL event will be held at Surf Abu Dhabi.
The 2024 Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic, presented by Modon, will inaugurate the World Surf League’s (WSL) longboard season with its first-ever event in the UAE. The competition is set to take place on Hudayriyat Island at Surf Abu Dhabi, starting Friday, September 27th, and will feature some of the world’s leading longboard surfers.
Among the competitors are Taylor Jensen, a three-time world champion and current world No. 1, Honolua Blomfield, a two-time world champion, Rachael Tilly, former world champion, and world No. 2. Eduard Delpero, a regular contender for the title.
The event is seen as a significant milestone in the development of surfing in the UAE, underscoring the region's growing interest in the sport. Officials from Modon Holding and Surf Abu Dhabi are expected to highlight the importance of the event for both local and international audiences.
The competition will provide a platform for athletes to showcase their skills in the longboard discipline, attracting attention from fans and the global surfing community.
