World number one snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan has signed a three-year ambassadorial deal in Saudi Arabia, committing him to play in all World Snooker Tour (WST) events in the Kingdom until 2027. The signing comes alongside the agreement of a partnership between Riyadh Season and the World Snooker Championship (WSC), as the entertainment giant continues to increase its footprint as an international entertainment hub.

Rumours of the 48-year-old’s retirement have been circulating for years, but this latest deal seems to affirm his presence on the global snooker scene for several years to come. In March, O’Sullivan won the first of the new World Masters of Snooker tournament, featuring the addition of a controversial new golden ball to the frame, allowing the possibility for a high-scoring ‘167 break’.

As well as committing to play in pro tournaments, the English snooker star will also tour Saudi Arabia on coaching trips, following the announcement by Turki Al Alsheikh of plans for a new Ronnie O’Sullivan Academy in the country.
