Rare Ancient Egyptian Treasures Will be Auctioned in New York City

Spanning over three millennia of history, this diverse assortment offers a unique glimpse into ancient cultures.

Dig up your checkbook - a rare collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts will go up for auction next month in New York City. Christie's auction house will offer archaeological pieces from various ancient Mediterranean cultures dating from 3000 BC to 200 AD in an international auction on April 9th.

One of the highlights is a Pharaonic schist stone obelisk from 1330-1250 BC that was formerly part of the collection of Baron Empain. Additionally, engraved gemstones from the late Dr. Corin Bronfman's collection will be featured. Other notable items include a life-sized Roman marble statue, a Roman marble altar, and a Roman bronze flower that previously belonged to Louis de Clercq's 19th century collection.
