Qiddiya is Getting a State-of-the-Art 45,000-Seat Stadium
The futuristic Mohammed bin Salman Stadium will serve as the home venue of Al-Nassr and Al Hilal football clubs.
Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia’s upcoming hub for entertainment, gaming and sports just 45km from downtown Riyadh, is about to receive its crown jewel in the form of a massive 45,000 capacity stadium. Mohammed bin Salman Stadium will be built on top of the 200-metre Tuwaiq cliff, and will serve as the home venue of Al-Nassr and Al Hilal, two Riyadh football clubs that have caught global attention for their signing of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar respectively.
“Our ambition is for Qiddiya City to become a global destination for entertainment, sports and culture and this iconic new stadium will be at its very heart,” Abdullah Al-Dawood, managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company, tells SceneNowSaudi. The futuristic stadium will feature a retractable roof and a giant LED wall, capable of massive holographic displays.
Saudi Arabia is currently the only bidder for the 2034 World Cup, with confirmation expected late in 2024. The Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is hoped to be included as one of the 14 stadiums required by FIFA to host the 48-team tournament.
