New Bridge Linking Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbor to Ease Traffic
The bridge is anticipated to cut travel time from 12 minutes to just 3 minutes.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed plans for a traffic relief initiative with the introduction of a new 1,500-metre bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour. In collaboration with 'Shamal Holding', the project aims to accommodate 6,000 vehicles per hour, anticipating a substantial reduction in travel time from 12 minutes to just three minutes.
This initiative aligns with the city's commitment to upgrading its road network infrastructure and follows directives from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. As per the agreement, the RTA will take charge of constructing a two-lane bridge in each direction, covering 1500 metres, as outlined in a statement from the Dubai Media Office.
The project will also include surface improvements at four intersections along the bridge, namely: the intersection of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street with Al Naseem Street, the intersection of Al Falak Street with Al Naseem Street, the fifth intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road, and Dubai Harbour Street.
Upon completion, the bridge is anticipated to enhance traffic flow significantly, offering direct access to the bustling Dubai Harbour district and aiming to streamline transportation in the area.
