Illegal Eid Slaughter Will Be Punished With Fines of Up to EGP 10,000

The Governorate of Cairo has announced stringent measures to curb street slaughtering during the upcoming Eid Al Adha festivities. Environmental fines, ranging up to EGP 10,000, will be imposed on those found slaughtering sacrificial animals outside designated slaughterhouses.
In a bid to uphold public hygiene and environmental standards, government-operated slaughterhouses such as Jerko, Helwan and Tura will offer free slaughtering services with thorough animal inspections.

The Cairo Directorate of Veterinary Medicine underscored existing laws, such as Law 281 of 1994 and Law 53 of 1966, imposing fines and potential imprisonment for violations.
