Fund for Protection of Egyptians Abroad to Provide Support for Expats
Based on voluntary participation, the fund is set to provide social and legal support to Egyptians abroad.
The Ministry of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs is launching the ‘Protection and Insurance Fund for Egyptians Abroad'.
In response to recent emergencies experienced by Egyptians expats, the fund was established to make sure that assistance in the form of social, economic and legal support will be readily available. Based on voluntary participation, Egyptians can join by paying a monthly fee, and in exchange they may gain investment returns to address emergency cases.
The fund will focus on aiding individuals in dire circumstances such as job loss, accidents, and the need for legal representation, amongst other issues. The fund will also aid in the shipment of deceased individuals to Egypt in the case of death. Intervention in critical cases is to be decided by a board of directors. In the long term, the fund is expected to attract further benefits to participants.
The fund is scheduled for launch during the fifth edition of the 'Egyptians Abroad' conference on August 4th and the 5th, 2024.
