While acting as the host of world-famous live sketch show Saturday Night Live for the first time, Egyptian-American comedian, actor and director Ramy Youssef took the opportunity to call for a free Palestine.

The star of ‘Ramy’ and ‘Poor Things’ began his show with an opening monologue on the Muslim American experience during Ramadan and ended with a moving plea to stop the violence in Palestine and free all of the hostages. His calls were met with loud applause and cheering from the live New York audience.

Ramy Youssef has been a vocal advocate for Palestine in the United States, having worn an Artists for Ceasefire pin to the Academy Awards earlier this year.
