Egypt's Internal Population Reaches 106,750,000

The Egyptian population increased by 750,000 in only 206 days.

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that the internal population of Egypt has reached 106,750,000. This is indicative of an increase of 750,000 people over 206 days, seeing as the population had reached 106 million on February 8th, 2024.


Egypt recorded 106,250,000 people on April 20th, only 72 days after it hit the 106 million mark. Another 250,000 increase in the population was recorded on July 2nd, also after exactly 72 days.

The final 250,000 people, however, was recorded in September 2nd in only 62 days. The rate of population increase saw a rise between July 2nd and September 2nd.


Cairo is the most populated governorate with 10.4 million residents, followed by Giza with 9.7 million, Sharqia with 8 million, Dakahlia with 7.1 million and Beheira with 7 million. They are followed by Minya with 6.5 million, Qalyubia with 6.2 million, Sohag with 5.9 million, Alexandria with 5.6 million, and Gharbia with 5.5 million.
