'Compass’ Programme Launched to Preserve & Highlight Red Sea History
The programme is also part of a wider initiative to encourage cognitive and cultural engagement in the history of the Red Sea.
The ‘Compass’ programme has been launched by the Centre for the History of the Red Sea and the West of Saudi Arabia, which is affiliated with the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah).
This was the first of a series of interactive programmes intended to help preserve and highlight the natural history of the Red Sea and the Western Region. The programme was part of a wider initiative by Darah intended to encourage more cognitive and cultural engagement in the Red Sea through digital production, culture, art, emerging technologies and artificial intelligence.
The wider drive also includes competitions and creative products designed to simplify educational content about the region. It also provides opportunities for university students and graduates to participate in competitions and present ideas.
The first leg of the programme, which ran until July 25th, was held at the College of Communication and Media at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, in partnership with the Historic Jeddah Program, the Saudi Committee for Popular Games, and the ‘Let’s Provide an Initiative’ programme.
