Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road Will Expand With 10 New Bridges
The ministry has also initiated the trial operation of a bridge spanning the 'Cairo-Alexandria' railway line at Abu Homs.
The Ministry of Transport has unveiled a new plan to develop and expand the Cairo-Alexandria agricultural road, spanning 220 kilometres. As part of this plan, the construction of ten overhead bridges, including nine car bridges and a pedestrian bridge, is underway. The primary objective of this infrastructure project is to "optimise traffic flow, facilitate the movement of citizens, and bolster trade between the governorates of Lower Egypt."
The ministry has also initiated the trial operation of a bridge spanning the 'Cairo-Alexandria' railway line at Abu Homs. This structure, measuring 1,270 metres in length and 24 metres in width, consists of two directions, each offering three lanes, along with three branches connecting to the 'Cairo-Alexandria' agricultural road. With a total cost of EGP 350 million, the bridge aims to address the persistent issue of vehicle congestion near the Abu Homs railway tracks and establish a new traffic axis to accommodate the city's urban expansion.
