The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), led by actor Hussein Fahmy, has extended the deadline for film submissions to September 1st. The 45th edition of the festival, set to run from November 13th to the 22nd at the Cairo Opera House, has seen a high volume of interest from filmmakers eager to participate.
In a bid to support and spotlight Arab cinema, this year's festival introduces the ‘Horizons of Arab Cinema Awards’, with a total of USD 25,000 in prize money across five categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and acting awards for both men and women. This marks the first time the CIFF offers financial incentives, emphasizing its commitment to nurturing Arab filmmaking talent.
