Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially announced the awarding of a substantial AED 696.414 million (USD 190 million) contract aimed at enhancing the Trade Centre Roundabout. This project will see the construction of five new bridges and the conversion of the existing roundabout into a surface intersection, significantly improving traffic flow in one of the city’s busiest hubs.

Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, this transformative project will double the intersection's capacity and dramatically reduce delay times from 12 minutes to a mere 90 seconds.

The new design will enable seamless traffic movement, facilitating access to important destinations such as the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), benefiting over half a million residents and visitors.

The construction will include a two-lane upper bridge extending 1,000 meters from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, capable of accommodating 3,000 vehicles per hour. Additionally, two two-lane bridges will link Sheikh Rashid Street with 2nd December Street, with a capacity for 6,000 vehicles per hour, while another two bridges will connect Al Majles Street to 2nd December Street.

In conjunction with this development, the RTA has also initiated the Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project, further enhancing the road network to serve projected population growth in the area.
