Saudi authorities have arrested 19,024 individuals in a week for violating the Kingdom's residency, labour and border security regulation.
According to the official report, the majority of arrests - 11,268 - were for residency law violations, with a further 4,773 people detained for attempting illegal border crossings. Additionally, 2,983 individuals were apprehended for labour-related infractions. Among those arrested for trying to enter Saudi Arabia illegally, 73% were from Ethiopia, 25% from Yemen, and 2% from other countries. A total of 1,212 people were caught attempting to breach the Kingdom's borders.
The report also noted that 122 people were arrested while attempting to cross into neighbouring countries, and 22 individuals were detained for their involvement in facilitating the illegal entry or harboring of violators.
Saudi authorities have warned that anyone found guilty of facilitating illegal entry into the Kingdom, including providing transportation or shelter to violators, could face severe penalties, including up to 15 years in prison, fines of up to SAR 1 million, and the confiscation of vehicles and property.
