Tickets for Pyramids of Giza Now Available via Self-Service Machines
The card-only machines will be rolled out across the country’s top tourist sites as the ticketing system goes cashless.
Self-service ticket machines have been installed at the entrance to the Giza Pyramids Archaeological Area, further digitising the ticketing system and the tourism sector in general. The four machines are intended to ease queueing and congestion at the entrance to the Pyramids. Their installation follows the introduction of online ticket sales through the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ website.
The machines accept credit and debit cards only, and allow Egyptians and foreign tourists alike to purchase tickets. They have already been introduced at the Valley of the Kings, as well as Karnak Temple, in Luxor. The machines are combined with a broader transition to cashless payment at several of the country’s top tourist sites, including in Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Abu Simbel.
Work is underway to facilitate the full transition across more than 30 archaeological sites and museums.
