Renovations to Giza Pyramids Area Now Underway
The renovations include an updated official entrance, designated visitor areas and changes in road structure.
In efforts to beautify the area surrounding the Giza Pyramids, renovations are underway to make it more convenient for visiting tourists, according to a decision by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anani.
The renovations include the construction of an official entrance to the area on the Cairo-Fayoum road, where tourist bus entry can be organised, with designated waiting areas to accommodate buses during peak tourist season. Additionally, visitor shelters and modern lighting systems will be installed.
Organisation of routes for tourist groups, including Egyptians, foreigners and school trips, will be facilitated through an online application, as well as the implementation of ticket rooms to accommodate the visitors. Upon entry, tourists will be able to use visitor service locations for a streamlined visit, in addition to the designated hall explaining the history of the pyramids.
More renovations include the creation of sidewalks for pedestrians, expanded vehicle paths, a large gathering area, and the designation of alternative routes for animals that are separate from bus routes. To ensure this construction is effective, community discussions will be held with animal owners in the area to explain the new change and its economic benefits.
