Saudi Arabia to Host Asian Champions League Elite Finals in 2024
The news follows the Kingdom’s historic bid win to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has chosen Saudi Arabia to stage the final rounds of the first two seasons of its new flagship club competition Champions League Elite.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation won hosting duties for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 after evaluating infrastructure, facilities and operations to host a tournament of this stature. The Kingdom has also been awarded provisional hosting until 2028/29 pending AFC review of the initial campaigns.
The 24-team competition will see teams divided into East and West leagues playing home-and-away before a last-16 knockout and finals tournament in Saudi from April to May of 2025. Winners will claim an increased USD 12 million prize compared to the USD 4 million currently on offer, while runners-up take USD 6 million versus USD 2 million this season.
