Registrations Open for USD 1 Million Drone Race in 2025
Organised by Aspire, the A2RL drone race aims to accelerate the development of autonomous systems and technologies.
The A2RL Drone Race has opened registrations for teams and innovators to compete for a USD 1 million prize pool in Abu Dhabi. Scheduled for April 2025, this international competition follows the A2RL Car Race held at Yas Marina Circuit earlier in 2024.
Organised by Aspire, the race aims to accelerate the development of autonomous systems and technologies. The event is expected to attract global attention, improve drone accessibility, and position the UAE as a leading hub for autonomous technology.
Participants will navigate through a sequence of gates, avoiding obstacles using onboard sensors and computational power. Teams will be evaluated on their ability to innovate in algorithms while minimising sensor technology, with a focus on software expertise.
The challenge will be conducted in partnership with the Drone Champions League, with two races planned annually until 2028.
Registration for the race is open until September 20th at the official A2RL website. A three-stage selection process will determine the finalists, with up to 20 teams competing in the grand finale in April 2025 for the USD 1 million prize.
