If you’re looking for signs of growth within Egypt’s blossoming borders, you don’t have to look farther than the country’s rapidly rising and increasingly ambitious hospitality scene. Relaxing regal retreats, lavishly-decorated lofty lodging and high-end heritage hotels – it seems like the land of the pharaohs is looking to transform its storied past into its soaring present.

The most recent example of this thriving trend is, perhaps, the exciting coming together of two regionally and globally renowned hospitality giants – SODIC, one of the region’s leading real estate developers, and Marriott International. Planning to bring the latter’s celebrated hotel brand, Tribute Portfolio, to not one but two of Egypt’s up-and-coming areas, West Cairo and the North Coast, the development duo aims to connect travellers to local communities, while adding a sumptuous splash of Tribute Portfolio’s signature colours to the world of hospitality.

Their first collaborative effort manifests itself in the form of Tribute Portfolio Hotel at Forty West, SODIC’s upscale residential building complex in West Cairo. Slated to open its doors in 2027, the hotel will include 170 guest rooms – including 48 suites – along with multiple dining experiences and recreational facilities, all within close proximity to the newly opened Sphinx Airport, the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Giza Necropolis.

Set to open in 2029, SODIC and Marriott’s second undertaking will call the former’s Miami-inspired beachfront destination, June, home. Located in the burgeoning area of Ras Al Hekma, this second 180-key hotel will feature picturesque beaches, crystal clear waters, a boardwalk, a beach club, residential villas and serviced apartments.

“We are very excited to be collaborating with Marriott International on these two upcoming hotel developments. This comes as a testament to SODIC’s commitment to joining forces with renowned global industry experts that create further value for our developments,” Ayman Amer, the GM of SODIC, shares with SceneTraveller. “The Tribute Portfolio brand gives SODIC the opportunity to create hospitality offerings that truly reflect the developments’ ethos. We look forward to bringing these hotels to life as we take further steps along our hospitality journey.”

Known for its vibrant independent lodgings – from boutique resorts to hotels in indie-spirited locales – Tribute Portfolio has a stated goal of putting guests at the heart of the experience, striving to bestow them with a sense of belonging wherever they may be.

“We continue to see a growing demand for independent hotel experiences and the signing of these two Tribute Portfolio Hotels marks an important milestone for the brand in Egypt,” Jerome Briet, Marriott International’s Chief Development Officer of Europe, Middle East and Africa, tells SceneTraveller. “Egypt remains an exciting growth market for Marriott, and we look forward to collaborating with SODIC to bring the brand’s authentic and vibrant experiences to landmark developments in West Cairo and the North Coast.”

If SODIC’s previous collaborations with global hoteliers and Marriott International’s general track record are anything to go by, these two new projects will not only prove successful but will also offer the highest level of luxury. All we have to do is wait and see.
