A collaborative project has been launched between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Ministry of Health and Population for the early detection and treatment of cancerous tumours. The ‘Sooner is Safer’ campaign has been launched in nine governorates across Egypt, and in doing so has managed to set a new world record.

The project’s effectiveness has been reflected with its entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for the speed of its early cancer detection, with eight detections per minute for eight different cancerous ailments detected. The programme surveyed 3,860 citizens in 480 minutes.

The Ministry of Health is now the world’s largest institution for the early detection and treatment of five different cancers, including lung, colon, breast, liver and prostate. The project is functioning in the governorates of Cairo, Qalyubia, Beheira, Damietta, Alexandria, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Assiut and Sohag, and is free to all citizens.
