National Karate Player Fatima Khasif Wins Silver at Asian Championship
Ranked 91st globally, Fatima defeated Jordan’s Jud al-Duwas in the women’s kumite -68kg competition in China.
Fatima Khasif, a player on the UAE National Karate Team, won the silver medal in the women’s kumite -68 kg competition at the ongoing Asian Championships in Hangzhou, China. Ranked 91st globally, Khasif earned her place on the podium after defeating Jordan’s Jud al-Duwas in the semifinals by decision. In the finals, she narrowly missed out on gold, losing 2-3 to a champion from Hong Kong.
This marks Khasif’s second silver medal, with her first being awarded at the Under-21 Asian Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 2021.
Kumite, meaning “meeting of hands,” is a form of karate sparring where two competitors engage in a match, utilizing various blocks and attacks.
