‘Tahya Misr’ Station Receives 330 Ships in Its First Year
On the one-year anniversary of its inauguration, the station holds a high score fo 330 ships & 410,000 containers.
On the one-year anniversary of the multipurpose station 'Tahya Misr' at the Port of Alexandria, the Ministry of Transport issued a statement revealing the numbers of ships and containers handled by the station.
The 'Tahya Misr' station spans 2.5 kilometres in length, at a total cost of EGP 9 billion. Comprising a vast area of 0.5 million square metres, the station has received over 330 ships and approximately 410,000 containers since its establishment. It is noted that all loading and unloading operations are automated, in efforts to promote efficiency and safety.
With quays reaching 2,300 meters in length, the 'Tahya Misr' station has the capacity to handle 12-15 million tons of goods annually. A harbour depth of 17.5 metres allows it to host 6-7 ultra-large container ships simultaneously.
In its first year, the station also provided 1500 direct job opportunities, and 2000 indirect jobs.
