Shreet Cocktail | July 9th - July 23rd
This week our playlist features Hello Psychaleppo and Bu Nasser, along with rising stars like Jana Diab and Lana Lubany.
For this edition of our Shreet Cocktail playlist, the SceneNoise team handpicked the best tracks released over the past fortnight from across the MENA region, featuring established regional artists such as Hello Psychaleppo and Bu Nasser, along with rising stars like Jana Diab and Lana Lubany.
First up, we have London-based Bahraini collective Dar Disku’s debut single, ‘Dbayli’, featuring Yacine El Khaldi. An eclectic mix of funk, disco and electronic beats with traditional Arabic samples, the track offers a taste of Dar Disku’s upcoming debut EP, set to come out in September.
Next is the latest collaborative single ‘Jaasoos’ by Syrian producer trailblazer Hello Psychaleppo and Lebanese rapper Bu Nasser Touffar, from Psychaleppo’s highly-anticipated album ‘Cypher’, which is set to release on August 2nd. The track features profane lyricism and intricate flows against distorted noise textures, offering a razor-sharp commentary on the current political situation in Arab countries.
Then, we have the latest release by Egyptian pop icon Amr Diab’s daughter, Jana Diab, ‘So Stupid’. It’s a dreamy introspective track, meditating on the complexities of relationships, and the pain and self-doubt that often accompany them.
