An initiative to award 1,800 scholarships by 2030, covering 50% of tuition fees at private schools for exceptional Emirati students, has been announced in Dubai. Part of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, the Dubai Distinguished Students Programme targets students in schools rated 'Good' or higher.

For the 2024-25 academic year, over 400 scholarships will be available, with applications open from May 20th to June 5th through the KHDA website. The program, supported by education operators including Taaleem and Dubai Heights Academy, spans British, International Baccalaureate and American curricula.

Eligible Emirati students from Grade 4 to Grade 10 with high academic achievements can apply. The program requires a 90% average in US or Ministry of Education curricula, a score of 5 in IB, or a B-grade average in the British curriculum. Successful candidates must also pass assessments and interviews.

The initiative, managed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the Knowledge Fund Establishment, aims to enhance educational standards and prepare Emirati youth for leadership roles. Education leaders from participating schools, such as Alan Williamson of Taaleem and Sultan bin Sulayem of Dubai Heights Academy, expressed their commitment to supporting the program and nurturing future Emirati leaders. More information is available on the KHDA website.
