Saudi Public Health Authority Advises Face Mask Usage in Public
The Saudi Public Authority’s main goal is to mitigate the risk of respiratory illnesses.
The Saudi Public Health Authority (Weqaya) has recommended that both citizens and residents wear masks in crowded places as a precautionary measure against respiratory infections. This announcement is part of a broader initiative aimed at safeguarding individuals and the community from the transmission of infectious diseases.
Dr. Emad Al-Mohammadi, the assistant executive president for contagious disease control at the authority, stressed the significance of promoting mask usage, particularly in densely populated areas, especially during the winter season.
The main goal is to mitigate the risk of respiratory illnesses, which typically see an uptick during this period, according to Weqaya. Dr. Al-Mohammadi also underscored the importance of mask-wearing for individuals with chronic conditions, the elderly, pregnant women, those with compromised immune systems, and visitors to hospitals.
