Fine for Smoking Vapes Implemented in Egyptian Universities

The decision explicitly prohibits all kinds of smoking in enclosed spaces, terraces, study halls and bathrooms.

Cairo Scene

The Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt has expanded the smoking ban on university campuses to include e-cigarettes and vaping.

In the academic year 2019-2020, the Supreme Council of Universities had already issued a directive banning smoking on university campuses, with fines ranging from EGP 20 to EGP 50 for individuals caught smoking in enclosed spaces, depending on their status within the university.

The recent decision now explicitly prohibits smoking, including e-cigarettes, in enclosed spaces, terraces, study halls and bathrooms. Violators will face penalties, regardless of the type of university they are affiliated with—public, private, or technological. The fine for smoking in unauthorised areas will be EGP 50 per person.
