Due to a new partnership between the UAE’s Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), and Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, 10 speech therapy centres have opened across Egypt.

These facilities, based in six governorates, will offer critical support to 643 young people with disabilities. A wider initiative is encouraging community awareness, and organising workshops for people with disabilities and their families.

Egypt’s existing network of centres have been updated as well, with ZHO and the Ministry of Youth and Sports having set up a medical convoy to deliver care at home. The new centres have been equipped with modern and up-to-date devices for speech therapy, skill development, sensory integration and psychological assessments.

The ministry’s partnership with ZHO aims to support people with a range of conditions, such as but not limited to autism, delayed speech, hyperactivity disorders, attention deficit disorders and learning difficulties.
