RTA Reveals New Cardless Project to Pay With Hands
Forget your nol card at home? Soon, you can use your palm to pay for Dubai Metro fares. The RTA's new 'MyID Palm' project aims to simplify transport payments, launching by 2026.
Imagine a future where forgetting your nol card doesn't mean a missed ride on the Dubai Metro. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to make that a reality with its 'MyID Palm' project. Revealed at Gitex Global 2024, this system allows commuters to use their palms for fare payments across various transport modes and even at retail outlets.
The project, still in development, is expected to launch by 2026. Users can register their palms at designated kiosks, simplifying the payment process. Once registered, commuters will simply hold their palms over readers at station gates. This advancement not only enhances convenience for travelers but also aligns with Dubai's vision of integrating cutting-edge technology into daily life.
