Nai Barghouthi Tributes ‘Li Beirut’ in Colors Performance ‘Li Fairuz’

A tribute to the legendary Lebanese singer Fairuz and her 1984 song ’Li Beirut,’

Omar Ghonem

Amid the current assault on Lebanon by the Israeli occupation, Palestinian vocalist, pan-flutist, and composer Nai Barghouthi took to the COLORS stage to deliver a raw and poignant performance of her song ‘Li Fairuz’ - a tribute to the legendary Lebanese singer Fairuz and her 1984 song ’Li Beirut’, dedicated to the city during the civil war.

As we witness the savage attacks on our people, families, and friends in both Palestine and Lebanon, the shared struggle between the two nations becomes ever more palpable. Like Fairuz’s iconic ’Zahrat Al Mada’en’, ’Li Fairuz’ reflects on Beirut, sending love, condolences, and solidarity to the city and its people.

During the performance, Nai wore traditional Palestinian attire, holding her flute while delivering a deeply emotional rendition. Her powerful vocals were set against a soothing, Nai-centered Eastern composition, elevating her moving tribute and reinforcing the depth of her expression.
