Dubai Square Amongst World’s ‘Most Advanced, AI-Designed’ Projects

Emaar’s latest project will be a sprawling residential, hospitality and retail city encompassing 10,000 residential units, over 1,500 hotel rooms and a Dubai Mall-sized retail district.

Architects and designers of Emaar’s latest mega-project, Dubai Square, have capitalised on cutting-edge AI technology for many aspects of the vast multi-use development. A sprawling residential, hospitality and retail city encompassing 10,000 residential units, over 1,500 hotel rooms and a 7,500 square metre retail district, the area of Dubai Square alone is the size of The Dubai Mall.

Artificial intelligence’s role in architecture and design is a burgeoning field, as developers continue to take advantage of the best technology at hand. In this case, artificial intelligence was used to study and model shifts in consumer behaviour, informing many parts of this latest Emaar project. Using AI’s limitless capabilities, the development will not be based on a dated view of people’s behaviour, but rather an informed model of how we actually interact with spaces such as these.

Emaar’s Dubai Square focuses heavily on family entertainment; as well as free live shows in the space-age Grand Plaza, a dedicated art district and rooftop waterpark are also part of the plans, with construction of the site slated to begin soon.

When completed in 2027, this latest project will sit adjacent to Dubai Creek Plaza and the planned Dubai Creek Tower, described as the ‘female’ counterpart to the world-record-holding Burj Khalifa. Original plans for its 2021 completion were shelved after the COVID-19 pandemic, along with their intention to build it to a record-breaking height. This trio of developments are set to be connected through underground tunnels.
