Egypt’s Front Row Studios Is Taking us to Europe For The Summer
Launching the first drop of her biggest collection yet, The Front Row Studios’ Malak Hany has us booked for Barcelona.
"This summer is all about travelling to Europe with your friends. It’s about the digicam pics, the cute party fits, and the truffle pasta. But most of all, it’s about looking as good as you feel," shares Malak Hany, Founder & Creative Director of Egypt’s rising RTW label The Front Row Studios, in an exclusive conversation with SceneStyled.
Designed with Mediterranean escapades as the principal muse, The Front Row Studios’ summer collection is an ode to easy living and the art of letting go. Set to be released in four drops throughout the season, the studio’s inaugural summer release, ‘See You in Spain’, embodies the spirit of the titular country’s capital with vibrant prints and hues that pop. “Barcelona is one of my favourite cities in the world, so it felt wrong to start off with anything else,” Hany notes.
Staying true to Malak Hany’s vision of honouring the female silhouette in all its forms, the collection retains the studio’s figure-flattering fits while adding a splash of vibrancy to the brand's signature neutral palette in celebration of summer. Not to be forgotten are the studio’s classics; the essential dress and its ‘mini’ variation are also restocked for the season.
To complement the summer collection, The Front Row Studios debuts its inaugural fragrance, aptly called ‘The Front Row Studios Fragrance’. With top notes of saffron, jasmine, and bitter almond, middle notes of cedarwood and ambergris, and base notes of amberwood, fir balsam, and musk, the fragrance encapsulates summer, ideal for late nights out or afternoons spent lazing by the beach. “We wanted to evoke feelings of confidence and femininity, we wanted to craft a memorable scent, and we have!” Hany proudly declares.
And it doesn’t end there. As has become customary for the Egyptian RTW design studio, Hany curated a summer playlist - available on the label’s Instagram - titled ‘See You in Spain’. The playlist features feel-good summer hits meant to soothe the soul on warmer days. (And yes, that’s a Kylie Minogue reference right there.)
Reflecting on her entrepreneurial journey, Hany says, “I’ve learned a lot about being an entrepreneur and how to push myself. It’s a work in progress with miles to go, but I think The Front Row Studios is on the right track so far.” Launched in November 2023, The Front Row Studios has quickly become a leading purveyor of RTW fashion within the homegrown Egyptian fashion scene, and we eagerly await the future for this nascent design studio.
