La Fiesta Loca is Bringing Bright Mexican Boldness to Sheraton Skyline

We spoke to Basem Nour, Co-Founder of the new Mexican street eats spot, about La Fiesta Loca’s journey.

Good Mexican food hits a spot that just about no other cuisine can match - it has lip-tingling heat from bright chillies, it has rich meats and cheese, it has light zinginess from fresh limes and herbs, with much of it tied together by the wondrous, infinitely multi-purpose tortillas, as a wrap or a chip.

Bringing those flavours to Cairo’s Skyline Sheraton is La Fiesta Loca, a new stationary food truck-style spot that’s plugging the hole in Egypt’s Mexican food scene.

“My brother and I felt that there was a gap in the market in Egypt for proper Mexican food,” Basem Nour, Co-Founder of La Fiesta Loca, tells SceneEats. “We may have had no experience or contacts in the F&B industry, but my brother had the chance to visit many Mexican food trucks on a trip to New York, and that was all the inspiration we needed.”

The Nour brothers’ passion for the food that they serve is clear in every facet of La Fiesta Loca, not least from the permanent smile plastered on Basem’s face as he talks us through the street eat spot’s story.

“We’ve learned so much through the process of opening this place, from the logistics to testing different potential menu items,” he enthuses. “For that reason, the Cheetos Buffalo Burrito is my favourite dish on the menu - it may not be 100% authentic, but it brings back so many good memories of the testing phase.”
