The Egyptian government will invest EGP 12 billion in developing the country’s first green industrial complex in New Alamein.

The complex is set to span an area of 400,000 square metres and provide around 2,000 direct job opportunities. The complex will begin production in the second quarter of 2025.

The complex will also focus on developing products locally in Egypt, and aims to export its products to Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The project is part of the government’s larger strategy to localise industry and shift towards greater environmental stability. To this end, Egypt signed several MoUs in February 2024 to increase investment in green hydrogen and renewable energy. These agreements are expected to bring in USD 41 billion worth of investments over the next decade.
