Your favourite producer-focused list, ‘Beats of the Month’, is back with another edition for this August. In this instalment, we carefully examine and scan through various hip-hop releases to curate a collection of the five best and most outstanding instrumentals from across the region.
This time, we feature five producers whose work stood out for its technical prowess, masterful production and exceptional quality. Our criteria also focus on experimentation as a key aspect of our selections.
On the list is DJ Gawad with his beat for ‘3abbi Lshanta’, where he introduces a 90s Memphis rap throwback instrumental, injecting new energy into the classic subgenre and bringing a fresh sound to the region’s hip-hop landscape.
We also spotlight up-and-coming producer Lecha for his work on Marwan Pablo’s latest EP. Lecha takes Marwan Pablo into experimental territory, shifting his sound towards a glitch-trap and IDM-infused sonic aesthetic that is heavily layered with synthesisers.
Rounding out the list are Wardenclyph’s production for The Synaptik’s ‘Montana/7osna,’ Khalil Cherradi for TIF’s new single ‘Maylin’, and Hello Psychaleppo’s ‘Jaasoos’.
