Government Sets New Reduced Prices for Chicken & Eggs
The reduction, as per the Ministry of Agriculture, ranging from 10% to 15%, is seen as an initial measure.
A new initiative is poised to slash poultry and egg prices by 10% to 15% nationwide in Egypt. Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly has reviewed a report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, regarding the initiative put forth by the Union of Poultry Producers.
The report delineates the initiative as a response to directives from the political leadership and government efforts to curb the prices of commodities, to ease the burden on consumers.
Under the new pricing scheme, the cost of live chickens per kilogram is set at 85 Egyptian pounds at the farm, with a carton of table eggs priced at 135 Egyptian pounds. These adjusted prices will take effect this week, starting tomorrow, Tuesday, April 2nd.
