USD 3.5 Billion Invested Into Renovating Riyadh’s Road Infrastructure
The initiative is set to include four major road projects within and around Riyadh.
A project to update transport within and around Riyadh has recently been launched, at a cost of SAR 13 billion (USD 3.5 billion). The initiative is set to include four major road projects across the city, including enhancements of the main and ring roads.
The first of the four projects is the construction of the Second Southern Ring Road, a 56 km stretch extending from the new Al-Kharj Road in the east to Jeddah Road in the west. It includes four lanes and three service roads for each direction, as well as 10 main intersections and 32 bridges.
The remaining projects involve the construction of two parallel bridges besides the existing Wadi Laban suspension bridge, as well as the development of the western section of the Thumama Road Axis, connecting King Khalid Road and King Fahd Road. Additionally, there will be an extension project of Taif Road from the Laban neighborhood at the West end of Taif to the Qiddiya project.
