In his first major decision since his appointment to the new government Cabinet by President Abdel Fatah El Sisi, the Minister of Transport & Industry Kamel El Wazir has announced plans to increase the work week for the Industrial Development Authority to six days a week.

“We are at a delicate stage of the life of the Egyptian industry, in which everyone must work to support the national economy and provide job opportunities,” El Wazir said in a statement. “There is great importance for the development of the Authority due to its responsibility in implementing the industrial policies set by the Ministry of Industry to stimulate and encourage investment in the industrial sector.”

The decision has been taken to provide greater time to investors and manufacturers alike, whilst the government as a whole pursues greater industrial development as a route to increased private sector representation in the economy.
