Hayy Jameel Arts Centre Invites Artists to Reimagine Facade
This arts commission is a chance for one Saudi artist (or artist coalition) to create a large-scale public-facing work.
Go inside Hayy Jameel, Jeddah’s premier cultural arts center, and you will find a wide range of projects, displays and performances from local artists. But soon, you won’t have to enter Hayy Jameel to see how its mission to give artists a platform manifests itself – the Hayy Jameel Facade Commission is giving local artists the chance to make the exterior of this building their own.
All types of artists are invited to apply for the fourth edition of the Hayy Jameel Facade project. Proposals in all mediums are welcome, including text, image, photography, sculpture, mural, digital work, and more.
To apply, artists should submit a 200 to 500 word concept statement, up to four sketches and diagrams, a portfolio and/or CV, and an estimated production schedule. A panel of judges will decide what Saudi artist or Saudi artistic coalition will have the honour of creating this public-facing installation. Applications for this opportunity are now open, and will close on April 20th.
